David Cameron

In the Conference Backyard
I will host a very slow walk around the conference site to introduce participants to the local vegetation and flora to exemplify key issues in plant identification and recognition with a special focus on both indigenous and exotic plants of documented ethnobotanical, including entheogenic, significance.
David has developed a lifelong research interest in rainforest ecology, conservation and management, and is the author of 'A Field Guide to Rainforest Identification in Victoria: differential species keys for the delineation of rainforest boundaries'. His current role is Senior Botanist with the Victorian Department of Sustainability and Environment in which capacity he is the Curator of the Victorian plant database maintained by DSE (until recently the Flora Information System currently in transition to the forthcoming online Victorian Biodiversity Atlas), and responsible for the ongoing review of the conservation status of the Victorian flora for DSE. In addition he maintains a continuing association with La Trobe University Botany Department as a teacher of undergraduate plant ecology and plant taxonomy.
